the answer is yes - Dos and Windows 95/98/ME use FAT as file stracture (Fat - file alocation table) NTFS file structure is uses by Win 2000 and XP (NTFS - NTFS (New Technology File System) is a file system used by the Windows NT operating system (and is also supported by Windows XP).

DOS (sorta a precursor to windows) and Unix/Linux command lines have almost identical directory file structure.
