I think most people feel freaked out like that, some people (adenaline junkies) just enjoy that crazy feeling.
I think the only trick is to just keep going on them until the fear subsides. My niece used to be terrified of rollercoasters, and it was the big drop part that scared her, too. I tricked her one time by saying a rollercoaster was little, and she was so scared she was crying. But she wanted to get over her fears, and we rode it about ten times in a row. The more you do it, the less it will bother you.
Also, you can try to focus on looking around and enjoying the view from up high. If you keep yourself distracted during the climb up, it will not be as scary when the drop comes. Look around and see if you can spot a water tower, a boat, an office building, etc. If you have a list to look for, you might keep your mind busy.
And if you never feel comfortable, don't feel bad. A fear of the drop on rollercoasters is normal and healthy. Humans are created by years of biology, and your fear would have been an important survival tool thousands of years ago. Your friends won't really care, although they will tease you, as that is what friends love to do!

Just hold your breath at the top.....
Sit either in the first seat or the last. Best affects in those seats.....especially over the first hump. If you in the front, you get suspended over the top and then pushed up the next hill. If you are in the back seat, you get pulled up and over the top of the first hill then slow down a bit before you reach bottom....pretty cool.
I sometimes get so nervous that feels like I'm gonna have the 'runs'...but I don't.

There's no reason you need to ride them! (Personally, I love them.) Just ride the other rides with your friens, and avoid the roller coasters. It's silly to force yourself to do something you hate. Your friends may tease a bit, but they'll understand. You've obviously tried to get used to them. Some people just don't ever like them.
I absolutely hate the "pirate ship" kind of rides! I like others that go upside-down, but not those.

That's the reason people go on rollercoasters- to get that feeling our stomach. If you don't like it then just don't ride the coasters because there is nohting you can do about it.

If it scares you, then scream your socks off from beginning to end. It will release all the nervousness and tension built up inside of you. Trust me, when I first started riding coasters, this was the only way i could do it.
