My husband lays on his stomach and kicks one leg rythmically. I don't think this is the same as restless leg syndrome. He has done it since he was little and sometimes my son actually does it, it's creepy that my son does it too.......we are all used to it but the neighbors probably wonder what the weird slow constant banging sound is. me and the cat and dog are so used to it that it helps us go to sleep. Sometimes when he is really tired he will do his arm like this, hitting himself in the side of the head with his bicep...it's kinda weird huh?

Maybe it's just a tick he has, when he sleeps or maybes its like people walking in there sleep, or talking in there sleep or even griding there teeth.

If you think it could be something serious ask him to go to a doctor or neurologist to seek out possible causes.

The behaviour your are describing is not what doctors would call psychosis.

It may be one of a number of things:
- when we go to sleep normally, most people may have an involuntary jerk or "myoclonus" - this is quite a normal phenomenon and you could see your animals sometimes doing it too, I'm sure. Odd for it to be sustained, but sometimes that might be what's going on
- an odd form of sleepwalking
- it might be a form of tremor that is usually suppressed during waking time and only comes up when he is trying to sleep
- it might be a form of epilepsy or cerebral palsy but very mild from the sounds of things.

Perhaps you should take him to a doctor to get him checked out, but I'm not sure that you should be terribly alarmed by it. Certainly pay attention if it is coming on during the day!

I bounce one leg when falling asleep and so does my daughter.

Do you have any idea what pschosis looks like? If a person is out of touch with reality, I don't think they'd much mind that you use the word for their mental condition as a joke, but I can tell you for sure that the people who love them don't find your use of the word funny at all.

Are you cancerous?
