they can but shouldn't. They have different nutritional needs plus rabbits have been known to get irritated and kick a guinea pig...often resulting in injury to the pig

A lot of people have done this in the past. I know people who have had no problems, but as a few people who have answered already have said, rabbits can cause fatal injuries to guinea pigs. They can kick out if they are frightened, for example; or - the nastiest one - an unneutered male rabbit can try to mate with the pig, causing horrible internal injuries and often death. Is it really worth the risk? The RSPCA recommend that rabbits are not kept with guinea pigs, as do most animal welfare organisations.
Their nutritional needs are different as guinea pigs need vitamin C and rabbits don't, and as different species they can't understand each other's 'language'.
It is much better to keep two guinea pigs or two rabbits.
Please check out the links below for more information on this - as well as general care information for whatever you decide.

It isn't a good idea to put rabbits and guinea pigs together. The rabbit could quite easily hurt the guinea pig by bullying it or kicking it.

I used to have a rabbit and a guinea pig in the same cage and most of the time it was fine.
However, one morning I went out and the guinea pig was dead. I think it got suffocated by the rabbit when they were asleep!!
It was pretty upsetting for a child.

NO! Absolutely not. Any reliable cavie or rabbit site will tell you this.
A rabbit will kill a guinea pig eventually. The ONLY reason you see them in pet stores together is because they are babies.
DO NOT house them together.

Yes, I used to breed guinea pigs and looked after a rabbit for a time with them.
however, be careful if you introduce the guinea pig to the rabbit's territory. Especially males, for they can get very protective of their space and have powerful muscles in their hind legs. They can really kick out!

They can BUT they shouldn't as although it may not do it on purpose a rabbit often kicks out when startled by even something small and if it connects with the guinea pig it will seriously injure it and even kill it.

yah, im sure they;d love eachothers company. Rabbits and guinea pigs are very nice animals and dont fight too much. The only think that could start something was if they were both male and you introduced a female

Not really, my rabbit killed my guinea pig by sitting on him (poor thing), however it does depend whether they have been brought up together in the pet shop.

yes generally they can live together happily though you need to be careful the guinea pig is not bullied by the rabbit. Both are social creatures and prefer to live in groups rather than alone.
