Is it Ozzie's amazing bare hand? Or is it one of Torii Hunters amazing catches(i.e. robbing Barry in the All Star game)? Maybe its Gary Matthew Jr's incredible home run rob this year. It could also be Jim Edmonds awesome diving catch going backwards, or Willie Mays in the series. I don't know if you saw baseball tonight last night but i think they got it right when they put Kirby Puckett number one leaping up against the fence in the World Series. To see that little guy get so high up and in such a big game was awesome.

I'm not a Jeter fan, but that flip to Posada in the World Series was phenomonal. Not only was it a brilliant piece of baseball smarts to know that the ball wouldn't get there without his help, but Jeter had already gone above and beyond by even being in that position - on the first-base line - to help the play along.

I don't think he's usually a great fielder - in fact, he has one of the worst range factors in baseball - but that was a great play.

I would say the top 3 are Willy Mays behind the back catch, Ozzie Smiths barehand play, then Gary Matthews catch to rob a home run

My memory is fuzzy:

But it was a game between the Seattle Mariners and the Kansas City Royals.

Bo Jackson caught a fly out ran up on the wall and threw out Harold Reynolds at home plate.

I dont know who made it or where or when but i went to the hall of fame in Cooperstown and i think it was in the opening video. This Japanese player (i think) was going back on a fly ball and the fence was chain link. When he got to the wall he walked up it, using his spikes in the holes in the fence, got to the tops, stood there and caught the ball.

Also that play where the outfielder ran THROUGH the fence.

There was also a good play made a few years back in the ALCS by Derek Jeter. Remember when he cut off the throw near home plate, then flipped it to Posada, who tagged out Giambi?

Jeter was so out of position on that play in the ALCS, and Giambi was still safe.
