People probably aren't familiar with Tom Clancy. Some questions just don't get a lot of answers. Give it some more time and maybe you'll get more answers.

First of all, you need some patience. You only answered your question an hour ago! Some questions get answers later than that.
Secondly, format your question better. Ask "Do the books of Tom Clancy and other authors like him make for good literature?" Or even "what do you think of Tom Clancy?"
Personally, I don't know. I read Yahoo! answers, not Tom Clancy books. ;)

Tom Clancy is an excellent writer and very successful. One must have a modicum of intelligence to understand his novels, which are usually also very thick. I'm not surprised that a lot of the people on Y/A don't recognise his name. But I'll bet a lot of them have seen the movies based on his books. No effort required to watch a movie.

I guess many people gave up reading his books,too formulaic.
Try reading Carol O`Connel,or Edna Buchanan.Ms.Buchanan was the crime reporter for a large newspaper in Miami.
Her first two books were a nonfiction account of her
news stories and how everyone was affected,the victims,families,policemen,and coroners.
