I got a new tattoo on my inside wrist, done in mainly red, i washed it when i got home 'gently' and put bepanthen on it, liquid then seeped out of the tattoo, which contained red pigment, and areas appear raised in kind of small lumps! my wrist is also quiet swollen and sore 3days afterwards, and the red pigment looks a bit blotchy, will all this sort itself out if I keep cleaning it an applying the cream?

Sounds like you could be going a little overboard with the cleaning.
What happened with the weeping was that the cleaning essentially re-opened the wound and as the body fluids (mostly lymph) emerged, the came out stained from the pigment.

Try using an unscented lotion on it to keep it moist. let it be for another day to see if the irritation and swelling will subside.

Bepanthen is mostly paraffin/petrolatum (petroleum based) and doesn't allow the skin to breathe well and may affect the ability to heal. Unscented Lubriderm and non petroleum-based lotions (remember, no perfumes...they irritate) should help it breathe and heal.

Some of the ink will come out with the scabbing... the bumps you are talking about is probably scabbing. Be very careful not to pick at the scab or rub the tattooed area while it is healing. Wash it gently and pat it dry gently. The scabs will come off in their own time (just like a cut) but you don't want to speed the process because you risk loosing more color from the tattoo. If the color is blotchy, usually reputable tattoo shops guarantee their work and will fix any problems or imperfections. Give it some time and let it heal, they usually take a week or so, but everyone is different. Good luck.

i think its normal for it to leak a little ( my first one left a little imprint of my tattoo on my shorts!) but it will stop soon, and it will look a little blotchy while its scabbing up, but it will clear up after a couple weeks too. Just keep the area clean, and use a little cocoa butter on it. Try not to expose it to the sun and you should be ok!

How long after you got it done did you wash it? Hopefully not right after. You're supposed to wait a while before washing it. I would go back to the person who did the tattoo and ask their advice. Until then, stop putting that stuff on it.

You should keep it clean, but you sound like you're cleaning the crap out of it. The ink will bleed out for a few day. Better to back to whoever gave you the tat and see what they say.

You are probably drawing the color out with the medication. My artist says DO NOT USE MEDICATED creams or ointment. Use lotion without perfume, etc.

You also should go back and have the artist look it over again.
