BOTH!! They are both great in different situations. My driving glasses (shades) are perfect for driving.
If you play softball - you're gonna want to have contacts.
Sometimes you just don't want to mess with putting on contacts.
Sometimes you just want to see for a minute while you do something
Get glasses and contacts. Look for an optomitrist (sp?) and get your contacts from him with a prescription for glasses. Get your glasses from Sears or JCPenny when they have their specials. I got mine from JCPenny's two pair for $99 nothing fancy, but they do the job.
Your insurance will likely only cover one or the other, so you'll have to shop around for the best price. Make sure you check, I got ripped by my optomistrist for contacts, I ended up paying $160 with insurance just for the exam - no contacts!!!!!!!!!!!! It was crazy. So be sure to ask what the appointment will cover and tell them what you want!
Good luck!

I got contacts when I was 12 and I love them. However, KEEP YOUR GLASSES! I always take my contacts out when I'm home. Wearing contacts all the time can be unhealthy.

Glasses. I hate the idea of sticking stuff in my eye. That, and glasses make you look smarter. (And let's not forget that some sight issues can't be corrected with contacts.)

It depends on you. If you don't like the prospect of being seen with glasses or find them bulky, unfashionable and annoying, then you should go for contacts. But these can be really annoying as well and it will be troublesome if you lose them. You also have to clean out the gunk that builds up when you use them.
Its best to ask your optometrist/opthalmologist which one is best for you.

you need to talk to your optician, who knows the health of your eyes and what is best suited to you.
But if you are suited to contacts, then I would go for both, so you can vary your look. Also, depending on the contacts, you might want to give your eyes a rest from them now and again, so having a cool pair of glasses would be perfect.
