Sabrina with Julia Ormond, and Harrison Ford. I never get tired of watching it. Probably because I was a nerd in school growing up always having some dumb fasination with boys who never liked me, and then I went to collage, got lots of friends, and kind of "found myself" by gaining tremendous self esteem. Met my husband 2 years later. Realized all those "crush's" on boys didn't really matter- just that one- like Sabrina came to realize how she didn't love David after all, and he didn't really matter because she found her true love!!!

Without a doubt, Citizen Kane is my favorite movie, followed quickly by Hiyao Miyazaki's Spirited Away.
Both movies are about cutting through the surface of things to find the real characters (the former more than the latter). The characters are "human" (despite the fact that many of them are not physically so in Spirited Away) and you generally want to see things through to the end if for no other reason than to see how the characters will resolve their problems.
Additionally, in both movies, there is very little in the way of a typical villain-- a real rarity in today's film industry.

Plain Dirty
Inez Macbeth (Dominique Swain) is a young girl who struggles to handle a myriad of life issues, including her abusive husband (Henry Thomas), unsolicited passes from an admirer (Arie Verveen) and a fling with the man (James Urbaniak) she thinks is her soul mate. Soon, Inez's life begins to spiral out of control as she desperately searches for happiness.
What I loved about this movie is how the abuse was so real compared to some things I've endured (past) and how it all came together at the end. Some movies end leaving you saying humpf! Not this one.

the rock...the scene where the navy s.e.a.l.s. are killed by the marines is very intense...it hits so many ideas about military life that are difficult to understand as a civilian...also, the rest of the movie is a solid action flick...

Dirty Dancing, because it's about a girl who found herself and followed her heart to do something that she craved to do! She believed in herself while her parents just tried to hold back.
