Or do you just forget the person eventually?
Provided that this is a person you had strong feelings for, and a definite connection. You just couldnt be together at that time.

Let me clarify--
if it was a brand new relationship that was great. But you had to let each other go (both unwillingly) not because you wanted to, but because you had to

I think absence does make the heart grow fonder or atleast you appreciate them more, although any problems that were there before they left will still be there when they get back, so leaving is not a problem solver at all. The longest my husband and I have spent apart is 20 months (we were both in the military at the time) and we both appreciated having the other around much more after spending so much time apart, them leaving their dirty uniforms on the floor is still aggravating but you figure that atleast they are here to throw the damned thing on floor.

I still love my bf but haven had sex since the 7th. OMG ten days, thats a long time, he had to work 2 jobs so we can save for an apartment Idont see him cuz he is working or sleeping, poor guy.
I need sex, cuz I am going crazy. So I think maybe abstence doesnt make the heart grow fonder, specially when u had it before. I wont forget him, he is always on my mind. I jusr want him in my bed :(

Absence makes the heart grow fonder while too much distance makes the heart grow colder but true love will always withstand the test of time.

obviously it depends, on lots of things. but i will say that not having any idea about someone, not knowing where they are, not hearing from them, all have a greater impact than knowing. in psychology they say if you want to get a song out of your head, you have to replace it. well, the same is true for people. but if you replace it with something (or someone) that isn't meeting your needs, then thoughts of this "long lost love" will inevitably return. in absence, there lies the capacity for fantasy. we tend to think of all the good things about the person, projecting the things we want out of that person on nostalgia. there's no fights, no bickering. so it's easy to keep the memory close to heart, especially in times of loneliness....
why do you ask? are you trying to get rid of feelings? wondering if someone will keep feelings for you?

True feelings last forever. But sometimes if too much time passes peoples lives have moved on and it might again not be possible to be together.

unless the other person is in the service , waiting is out of the question. the person in the service has a job to protect you, me and all others in the USA. go on with your life. if you are to be together it will happen soon or down the road.
