Yeah it hurts, but let me tell you what really hurts. When I first had mine pierced I still had the ring that they put in it. At the time my son was 2 and he loved (and still does) to wrestle around in the floor. Well, I was wrestling around w/ him in the floor and because his fingers were so small, one of his fingers got caught in the ring an he pulled my ring out. Tore the two piercing hole into one. I thought the bleeding would never stop. It took a good six months to heal properly. I thought I was going to have to get stitches. I was afraid to get it pierced again but I did and was much more carefull this time around. Oh, one more thing as long as you take care of it and clean it properly it should be fine. Make sure the metal (gold or silver) that they use for the ring they give you is something that you aren't allergic to. Hope this helps. And I didn't scare you.

It all depends on the persons pain threshold. I have three pierceing on my navel, to me it was just like a quick pich and that was it. Some of my friends, say it hurt more than that, some say it felt just like when they got their ears pierced.

Nope, just takes a split second.
If you do get your belly button pierced, make suer you follow the directions on how to care for it.
If it gets infected, that's when it hurts.
