As far as I understand it PHAT started as a program used in a Windows platform to help install LINUX platform on PCs. It's letters represent 4 different words.
However it is now used as slang to describe something 'cool' (as in cool dude) or something 'hot and sassy'
Phat is also a bicycle manufacturer in California - elevated handle bars. Tres cool!
