I was reading a marriage magazine that had an article about how you and your spouse should never stop dating. Well with work, kids, housecleaning, laundry, etc we rarely have time to go out alone. I am curious how many couples in yahoo land find time to date thier hubby / wife on a semi regular basis?

With LOTS of family nearby, it is not too hard for my husband and I to find someone to watch them so we can go out at least once every week or two. I know not every one has the luxury of having family close by and we know how lucky we are that we do, but it is so very important to continue having your "alone time" with your spouse after kids come into the picture - if you don't you tend to drift apart as time goes by.

We try to make time for each other, but don't have many date nights.... probably like 3 a year. We live in an area with no family and I have 2 younger children- and money is tight to hire a sitter every time we want to go out.... its a minimum of a $50 night.
With that said, we do put the kids to bed and turn off the tv and just be with each other an awful lot. You have to communicate and be with each other to keep your relationship strong.

My husband and I joined a couples bowling league-every other Sat. night. That way we get out as a couple twice a month. Kinda cool-I know what you mean with kids, laundry, etc. Gets a bit crazy! We tried a new date once and a while first but it never worked out but the every other weekend thing where we had to be there did. Good Luck.

A regular date night is a healthy idea for all marriages. Seems like if there is time, there is no money or vice versa. A night away from home is even better, gives you more time to relax with your spouse. Wish I did these things a few times a year! But we don't.

When my wife and I remember to plan one we have an incredible time. Like you, we have our hands full on a regular basis, but taking the time for each other makes all the difference in the world.

You hit a big one on the head. My wife and I try to go out at least once a month. It is no where as much as we would like, but responsibilities have their way of creeping into personal time. But you need to work and strive for that personal time to keep the bond fresh and not stale.

Hope this helps.

Does date night need to be a night out or could a date be taking the time to chat over a glass of wine with soft music.

I do. You have to make time. Your relationship is more important than the laundry, which will be there when you get back. *wink* I have four sons, a big house to clean, a large lawn/garden full of chores, etc., but you have to make your relationship a priority.

My wife and I make it a point to go out every month w/o the 2 kids. It definitely is hard to do but we make it a priority. It has helped our relationship immensly!!

My wife go out about once a month. We would like to do more, but life is busy and we always get to sleep together.
