I lost my mucus plug about 3 hours ago, and have been having period like cramps since..I called my Dr, and she said I could go get checked out, and if i am in lobor they will not stop it, but I am tired of going because of these, only to be sent back home..
I do have an appt in the morning.
Could I actually be in labor this time?I know noone here is a Dr, BUT I do know there are women that have had babies recently, and maybe even some that had the same symptoms...Yes, I do have 2 other children, however, one was 16 years ago, and I dont remember, and my second, I NEVER felt a contraction because I received an epidural before I ever got the pitocin...Also, what can I do to ensure this is labor, and I WILL NOT GET SENT HOME!

i suggest you wait..if the contractions get stronger yes you are in labor, but maybe its too early ans either way they will probably send you home..unless your water breaks and you are at risk for an infecction you should wait....but if they get too strong and you cant handle it, get going..........

Your labor may go fast since this is your 3rd. I went to hospital when my contraction were 7min apart with my 2nd. By the time I got there they were 1min apart. I was already 5cm I went from 5 to 8 to 10 in two hours. I labored during the night at home without knowing it. If your contraction are coming close together and often I would go....Congrats....and Good Luck

I had those symptoms when I went into labor and like you I was tired of going and getting sent back home. So I waited until my contractions were around 5 minutes apart. When I went they admitted me and then broke my water. When your contractions get close to 5 minutes I would go to the hospital. Good luck with everything and Congrats.

During the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, you may notice episodes when your belly tightens and becomes firm to the touch, then relaxes. These are episodes of tightening (contraction) of the uterine muscles called Braxton Hicks contractions. These normal contractions may be hardly noticeable or may be strong enough to make you stop what you are doing.

Considered "warm-up" exercises for the uterus, Braxton Hicks contractions can begin as early as the 20th week of pregnancy, although most often they start between the 28th and 30th week.

Braxton Hicks contractions are usually infrequent in midpregnancy. However, they can be more frequent during the ninth month, sometimes occurring as often as every 10 to 20 minutes.1 Braxton Hicks contractions usually occur less than 4 to 6 times per hour.

Braxton Hicks contractions:

Usually disappear during exercise or activity (unlike true labor pains, which continue or increase if you move around).
Are more noticeable during rest.
It may be difficult to tell the difference between Braxton Hicks contractions and true labor. If there is any doubt, consult your health professional.

Sounds like pre labor. Before the hard stuff. During labor, sounds strange, but have a shower. I did at the hosptial and I had my sone in 20 minutes, it really relaxes you big time. But just because your in pre labor does not mean your actually having the baby, as I was in pre labor for 2 days with each of my kids cause "I was just having a little back pain" lol. But good luck!

I lost my mucus plug at around 2 cm some women lose it 24 hours before they get contractions. you never relly know unless you get checked by a doc. Its always better to be safe than sorry or have the peramedics deliver your baby on the freeway, or a starbucks bathroomf or that matter lol

Are the cramps in your back? are they strong enough to make you stop doing what ever your doing? Problem with the mucus plug, is it could be hours or days after you lose it.. Your main thing you want to watch for is your back..does it hurt and how much..because that is the true sign your in labor. good luck!

Wait until tonight maybe. I lost my plug in the morning and had the same symptoms as you. I went to the hospital about 10:00 that night and my son was born at around 10:00 the next morning.

I know it's a pain, but go get checked out anyway. You could have a quicker labor since you've had 2 other children. I know mine was a lot shorter with my second son! Good Luck and remember this will all be over soon and when you see your baby it will all be worth it!!!

Here are some things to help know if it's real labor:

Contractions are regular at 5 minutes apart
There is a sudden increase or decrease in fetal activity

This is false labor:

Irregular
Decreases with walking
May ease with change of position
No increase in frequency or intensity
Discomfort located in abdomen only

I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck!

If you really need to know for sure then go to the hospital...all pregnancies are not the same.

Yeah you take a chance of being sent home but it is better safe to go to the hospital can get checked, that is what I do.
