I am in my 22nd week and am 41 years old! :-) I have an 11 year old daughter that was very premature and I also had most of my cervix removed when I was 22. This pregnancy is, obviously, high risk and a bit stressful! My doctor advised me I needed to start progesterone shots at 17 weeks. When I received the medicine I took it right to the doctor's office on my way to work and they were to give me the shot there (and teach me how to give it to myself). I was to receive 1ML per week for 4 weeks (per bottle, until the next refill). There were a total of 5ML (to cover the amount that secretes when you try and get all the air out of the needle).
The doctor "misread" the label on the bottle of syrum. I was given the ENTIRE bottle of progesterone (without my knowledge because she switched needles and did not use the ones I was given). Yes, FIVE TIMES the amount prescribed. I am worried sick and cant get any answers!!

I too was given progesterone in the beginning of my pregnancy because my Dr was afraid, as well as I that I may miscarry..I accidentally took more than I should have taken that day, I do not believe it was as much as you were given, but I had no problems, and needless to say I am still pregnant, and due soon.I don't believe you should have any problems, the progesterone is to help you stay pregnant, and your baby should be fine. However, if you have concerns your Dr will not address with you, I would contact another Dr, and get advice, and possibly an appointment.Maybe you should have a cerclage to ensure you do not lose the baby..But in any case I would get another Dr if your OB/GYN will not talk to you about it..And you can also speak with an attorney, they can give you legal advice. But th to wait and see what happens, and when the baby is born, have him/her tested for any abnormalities..
Many Blessings...
Hope everything goes well for both you and your baby1

well there are a couple of suggestion i can give you..call the poison control hotline..they will know...call another obgyn and explain what happend, and see how they can advise you..also you can go to the ER and explain the situation..and they may be able to help there also. I'm sure this has happend to women in the past, but i can't find anything any where saying what the risks are..im sorry..good luck

I would definitely call or go to the ER ASAP. Symptoms of a progesterone overdose are not known.
Then I would sue the crap out of this doctor for putting you and your unborn child at risk!!!

It's really unknown for sure what that could do to you or the baby. Go to the ER immediately and tell them what happened.

They can do an ultrasound and stuff to make sure your baby is fine.

If something does happen I would get a Lawyer.

Go to the emergency room, they will run tests to determine if any damage has been done, or at least give you some answers to your questions.

Worry about an attorney and suing later after you are sure you and your baby are safe.

I would go to www.webmd.com and look the drug up. They list overdose hazards and what effects they could have. Then i would call a different doctor or speak to a pharmacist and see what effects it could have on you and your baby.
