For example, people use to make the sign of the cross when they would pass a church; but, now not many people do that eventhough the still believe and go to church. This is a minor example, however, do we tend to stray further and further to the point of who knows what, if we don't stablize or return to spirituality?

What happens with this is that when you have a good continual relationship with Christ the things that are bad you don't do. Why? because you are letting Christ live in you, and we tend to see things in a very distinct manner and you end up choosing things that please God. God tells us that we are the light of the world. How do we become the light? When we reflect Christ in our lives. The way we talk (no speaking profanity or lies), the way we live are lives is a good incidation of whether Christ is part of our everyday life.

However, when we lose contact with God, our decison making process that governs our sinful nature is released and we end up doing things that God would not do. Not that we would not be forgiven, but there has to be a true repentence because if you say sorry and you the same sin again; then you were'nt really asking for his forgivness.

The further we walk from the light (Jesus) the closer we walk into darkness (sinful nature). Tha is why the psalmist David said "Renew me" and "be a lamp unto my feet." Hope this helps

Not necessarily. Some of the worst atrocities have been done by people claiming to be highly Religious(spiritual).
I think we have to find a balance in life between the Spiritual and Rational.Going to far,in either direction, leads us away from being everything we can be.Even though I consider myself Spiritual,I temper it with my Rational side.

No. Spirituality is a superstitious practice. Making the sign of a cross is something catholics do, most other christian religions don't do that and find it weird
