A friend is a friend. Just because of their sexual orientation you do not omit saying something to them. You could say "_______ I think you are a great person and someday you will find a relationship that's just right for you." or _______--your a great person and I'm glad you finally have a relationship with ___________.

why would it be "unsafe"? and why would i worry? you should let people know if you think they're great, whatever their sexual orientation is, and even if you were attracted to her, it wouldn't be dangerous, just hopeless.
