i would start with a base colour - either black/navy/brown
then build a wardrobe around one and only one of these colours and brights/pastels - then everything normally will fit together and be pretty interchangable.

Throw out anything you havent worn in the past 3months - it means you dont like it or pack it away under your bed as you may want to come back to it.

Make sure you have enough underwear and that you have a set that goes with each style of top and bottoms in your wardrobe.

Have an afternoon when you try on one bottom at a time and try every top you own on with it - you might find a suprising new outfit.

Buy cheap and playful accesories to brighten up old outfits - you can get the new plastic beads that are everywhere for about £1.

Before you buy anything try and think of at least three things you can wear it with in your wardrobe and three occassions whee you would wear it.

Personally I survive on a capsule wardrobe as I travel a lot - all you need really is a couple of pairs of truly flattering jeans, black trousers, denim skirt, and a bunch of different tops - the bottoms will match pretty much any top you put them with.

Buy essential items expensively like jeans and black trousers as they will last and be your classics. Buy seasonal tems like tops and accesories cheaply so that they can become disposable - everyone can do this now primark exists!!!

And lastly invest in a friend who is always honest with you - ask them to say the first thing that comes into their head when they see you in an outfit you are trying on - give them a 3second time limit so they cant think of a nicer way to put it - take them out to lunch afterwards to show there are no hard feelings.

Most importantly - have fun with clothes!!!!! (sorry for the essay - but i just lost 5 stone so have just been through the process of changing my wardrobe.)

Invest in a few plain, inexpensive black and white tops. Primark does greats fitted stretch ones. That means whatever bottoms your want to wear, you'll always have at least one top to go with it.
For bottoms, you want to make sure you have a black skirt, a good pair of jeans, and a pair of combat wouldn't go a-miss for more casual days.
Shoes you want some workwear shoes, black is the best bet, a good pair of trainers, and you want silver, and gold too if possible (never ever mix gold and silver), strappy heels.
If you find yourself with a little extra change lying around invest in some assessories. They can totally change an outfit, and dress up the old jeans-and-top combo. Go to somewhere you know you can get inexpensive jewellery (it doesn't have to be real) and get some key pieces. A sparkly ring, plain bangles or bracelets and a nice watch would be great to. Try to keep them all simple with a one coloured metal (whichever you wear most often) and clear stones, so they go with everything.
A belt can also change an outfit so make sure you have white, black, and silver or gold .
And I also feel obligied to highlight the beauty of the headscarf. Dresses up the up-do, gives a change to the down-do, keeps your hair out your face AND keeps you warm in winter and protects your hair from sun damage in summer.

With these simple essential you're garenteed to be able to make use of absolutely everything in your wardrobe!

Layering your clothes is really in this year. Also try and mix up your colors so that they stand out. Accessories can really bring a new look to your clothes. Like a chunky or bold necklace. Many people are also wearing bold or colorful belts over their shirt. If you want to update your jeans, then put a patch or something on the back pocket.

Get a good mix of patterns and solids with matching colors. Layering is always a good idea, because you can reuse clothes and no one can tell because it's with something totally new.

As far as wear and tear i would say don't dry you're jeans or fitted shirts. Also you can but 2-3 shirts per 1 pair of jeans.

By wearing them?! They're a bit pointless if left in there.

What a strange question!
