Apples are very good, much better than windows, but it can be a bit difficult learning the different operating system. So i would try the Apple out before you buy, just to see if you like it and can get used to it.

Just depends on what you'll be doing with it. If you'll be working with a lot of images and graphics design, go with a Mac. If you want versatility, go with Windows. Keep in mind... Apples are good computers but can get costly. A good HP will do the trick. If you want a step-up, go to a Gateway. DO NOT GET A DELL, they are recalling batteries right now, and I've never known anyone to have good luck with them. My parents had a Gateway, and I have one now. AWESOME tech support. Plus, you can chat with the online. And if you get a warranty, they are awesome about replacing stuff. We had 2 motherboards and 3 modems in our old PC. Plus, when the door that covered the buttons on our 17" CRT wouldn't close anymore, they replace the whole monitor! That was back in 96'... still works today!

Depends what you are using it for.
I have a Toshiba Satellite (uses Windows XP)
I am a college student so I use battery life, wireless internet, word processors, internet, etc.
I love my computer and I wouldnt change it for a Mac. I had a mac before and I just love Windows alot better.

I would suggest if your getting a older computer than get windows. If your getting a new computer get mac. Those new macs are amazing, with the tower built into the moniter and also they play all windows things, but are better.

If you want compatibility, go with Windows because there are a TON more programs for Windows than there are for Mac.
