She is not fat and despite what anyone says here, losing 10lb will do nothing to make her healthier, as her weight is ideal. Being skinny does not necessarily equal healthy and some girls need to start realising this. She does not need to lose weight, just encourage her to feel good about herself. Take care : )

I am sure that in her mind she really thinks that she is FAT - I know that I wouldn't be happy at that weight and I am much taller - I think people have to stop worring about other people's weight if she feels she is FAT then until she gets help for the issues nothing you do is going to make her feel okay about her weight -
I do think that it is young to bb so worried about weight but maybe there is more to the story than you know!

a)she's not fat, she's actually the ideal weight for her height.
b) she "has" to wear a bikini? I believe it's not against the law to purchase a one-piece. Tell her to get one now, they're on sale, and enjoy the rest of her summer already!

Shes not FAT, but she should lose about 10 pounds to be healthier. When i was her age i was 5'3 and 100 pounds, but then again i was rather skinny and i wouldve wanted to gain 5-10 pounds.

No way. If she is so athletic she probably has bulky muscle. just caution her not to quit excersizing because old, unused muscle turns to fat. I am a ski racer and I have thigh issues because that is a major muscle for skiing. You just have to accept your body if you want to be athletic, and she needs to know that.

Sounds like she is really insecure about her appearance. By complaining to you about how fat she is, she's hoping you will tell her that she looks great & therefore make her feel better about herself. Its pretty normal for teens to go thru this, especially girls.

She is not fat. Her self image is though. She may need some counseling.
