Use many snap traps! The more the better! Use peanut butter as the bait. Place the traps so that the trigger is facing the wall. Mice run the edges of walls and other structures so they know where they are at all the times. They only run out into the middle of the floor when they are startled by something.

hi
the mouse will be trapped and no brains will fly out. 9 out of 10 times it will snap shut on it's neck. it will be super fast and painless. the mouse won't know what hit it. use some peanut butter to bait it. mice are smart, they may be able to get the peanut butter before it shuts. they are fast suckers! good luck.
also, i'm sure you don't just have one mouse, he has a wife and kids. he's just in charge of getting the food.

Regarding your question about what it looks like when a mouse is caught in a trap: in my experience, there is no blood or spatter. Just an intact dead mouse.

Hi,
I would use either trap, the sticky ones work really well. One time I saw a rat caught on one by one leg and it was eating it's own leg to try and get free, it was sick and wierd looking. You could also get a cat.

Please don't kill it, I know they're vermin but couldn't you try to entice it into a box or something then sling it well away from your house ? I'm sure I read somewhere about traps where you don't kill them !
