POLTERGEIST (the first one, none of the sequels were as good)

When I was quite young, Poltergeist gave me frickin' NIGHTMARES for weeks after watching it.

I'd probably laugh my @ss off if I watched it now.

Years ago, a friend of mine had downloaded a version of Blair Witch (well before it made it to the theatre). We had no idea what we were watching, so we actually believed that it was a kind of documentary that went wrong, and someone had found the recordings after the fact.

Trust me, not realizing this the first time through made it far more scary.

Too get a real scare you have to go back to the original movies of the 70's..back before bad special effects and sex dominated the movie industry. Orginal movies such as The Exorcist, Salems Lot, The Omen...Movies today suck!!

It all depends on so many things - seeing films at the cinema has a greater impact, so does age. So for me - Evil Dead and Alien. I'm too old to get scared now, but I keep on looking.
