Why do some people compare homosexuality to bestiality?

I'm really curious. I guess I just don't understand how anyone, even someone who is against gay rights or thinks gayness is a sin, can make that connection. Yet I've heard that a LOT.

Bill O'Reilly made that comment the other night, I almost spit out my pizza on the TV screen.

I did a little more research, and found out that quite a few bible thumping right wingers have made that same comment.

There is NO similarity and/or correlation to two women who fall in love, and want to commit to a monogamous relationship and some half breed, white trash freak humping the brains out of his german sheppard.

How these small minded people can even equate the 2 is a true mystery.

Although I don't recall hearing this comparison very often, the point is theis. When I as an "anti" homosexuality person am trying to make a point, comparing this choice to other sexual choices other than heterosexual, monogomous, married relationships might help a "pro" homosexuality person to understand where I'm coming from. If a "pro" finds bestiality disgusting, or perhaps polygamy or necrophilia, then they can related to my feelings on homosexuality....even if we don't agree.

That was tough for me to explain...hope I made sense. (Please note that there was no bashing of any kind in my comment).

I think homosexual relations between heterosexual people for pure hedonistic reasons should not be encouraged or glorified by TV and movies and in religious terms it is a sin because you are becoming slave of earthly pleasures by doing something unnatural (emphasis on hedonistic heterosexuals), this is probably the only view that those who oppose to gay rights see.

There is also true loving relationships between homosexual people and these kind of relationships should be protected, but in the USA people is very keen on polarizing issues and see the world as black or white.

They are both referred to no less than three times in the Hebrew Bible (aka Old Testament) as an "abomination". Leviticus, though I'm not sure of the verse.

I know this because I'm helping a rabbi write a book, no, I don't subscribe to it myself, but that's probably where the connection is made ;-)

I don't know where you've heard that, but certainly not in France, where I live! I cannot understand someone who would think that a sexual conduct which ever it is, apart child molesters naturaly, can be compared to bestiality.

Well I guess it could be looked at like this , a gratification. If you are having sexual relations with a person of the same sex , then you must only be looking for sexual gratification. You could be gratified by someone of the same sex and you can also be gratified by a dog , both have tongues. Its not my personal belief , but that is the only way I can see it being connected.
