I remember Carter and the hostage days like yesterday and although I was not old enough to vote I still remember the shame I felt as an American as he coward in the White House, unable to do a thing about the situation. I remember the shame of the failed rescue attempt as well. Do you remember the shame of that as I do?

I was too young to vote yet too but remember it well.Yes how sad it was to be an American at the time and to have a complete worthless coward in the white house representing us at the time.Took a Republican to bring them home in Ronald Reagon

Just think if a Dem-dummie was in the White House during 9-11..We would of been attacked several more times since then.

I was in Air Force then so I know about the events ..On Apr. 24, 1980, the United States attempted a rescue mission that failed. After three of eight helicopters were damaged in a sandstorm, the operation was aborted; eight persons were killed during the evacuation. Secretary of State Cyrus Vance, who had opposed the action, resigned after the mission's failure. But I also remember Iran-contra which clearly demonstrated back then that republicans were and still are capable of sacrificing Americans for political gain.Maybe you should really read up on this sick icon you republicans cheerish so much.

No. I was 5.

However, you should read "See No Evil" by Robert Baer. He talks about the situation a lot and regrets that he was actually yards away from where the hostages were kept. There is a lot of political red tape within the CIA, then and now.

Wow, get over it. I was just a kid then too, and it was a pretty huge failure.

The real shame was putting the Shah back into power in the 1950s and not letting Iran become DEMOCRATIC socialist as a country. Instead they go from dictatorship to Muslim dictatorship.

I do vividly & it is digusting that many of today's liberals think that his FAILED diplomatic policies worked. He really started this appeasement to terrorist concept which has handicapped us and emboldened the enemy. It just goes to show - be a pansy and let evil walk all over you, make america look weak, and you'll be the next nobel peace prize winner. Absolutely disgusting!

no not really .... it sucked but things happen ... im much more ashamed that the US govt would make a conterfeit badguy/CIA operative called "binladen" and stage a fake terror attack and kill its own citizens to achieve political ends.
