Just like we have lungs for breathing and a digestion system for consuming food and water for energy, vitamins and minerals, our brains are for thinking and deciding. That muscle controls everything we do from opening our eyes and making our toenails grow. Yeah, I would guess to say that our brains do decide everything we do. Sometimes we think we follow with our hearts, but if you think about it, that is controlled by our brains. Some of us have more brains than others but, I personally think that is what its for.

A distinction is often made in the philosophy of mind between the mind and the brain, and there is some controversy as to their exact relationship, leading to the mind-body problem. The brain is defined as the physical and biological matter contained within the skull, responsible for all electrochemical neuronal processes. The mind, however, is seen in terms of mental attributes, such as beliefs or desires. Some suggest that the mind exists in some way independently of the brain, such as in a soul or epiphenomenon. Others, such as strong AI theorists, say that the mind is directly analogous to computer software and the brain to hardware.
That we need brain

With the time, I also ended up wishing to be able to take my brains off as the old people did with their false teeth and put them in water for a while...just to soak for some hours.

It is absolutely necessary for your mental and physical health to stop trying to have everything under control. The more you try, the more difficult it will be to get out of your own trap. Why? Just because you will reach what you want, but your life will keep on being empty. Because neglecting your feelings and your instincts can be very expensive, sometimes bringing you to the edge of not caring anymore about life.
Do not worry, the more rigid you are, the more fragile you will be.
In other words, watch out with thinking so much because one day you will have a black out and then you will miss your emergency light.
That less bright but secure light is your instincts, deep inside you if you have been rationalizing for a long time. Sure, it is tiring, drains you up because there is no way to classify the more important things that happened or will happen in your life. There is no way to give you to somebody using a meter; we are no liquors but human beings with a soul to feed.
Inside us lays the memory of our ancestors, that we as human beings we have for a long time forgotten. Just think why we tend to smile, cry or stand up no matter where we are born in this world. The same reason that gives us an identity as human beings keeps on being there to keep us out of danger, to protect the people that you love with unexpected strength or simply make you think right now that something must be going wrong, since you are getting tired of using your brain.
Sure, the middle point is the best, bla bla.
I wonder how many people in this world can presume to live indeed in the right balance. In my case, after I had every minute of my life measured and planed from childhood till my 25 at least. Once I was there then I tried to set another plan, but it never worked because I had changed and the values from my earl youth became more and more flexible in the measure that I hit my head so much against everything and over everybody to obey my master plan.
I’ve lost my carrot, I’ve lost my way, I had no more reason to fight for.
I had another life before the time in which my bones became powder, and now, I just wish I'd have a brain. I still do not know what for, I just miss it.
It feels more secure to live a life where you believe that everything is under control than being floating with the moments and learning to feel every day what makes you really happy.
Getting in touch with yourself takes time and sensitivity to learn to know your own reactions. I mean not the ones you wish you would have, but the real you. Darkness and light, good and evil; all together in you as the universe and the nothing.
Only after you learn to know your real you, life start. Then you will feel more vulnerable but free, and enough open as to give and receive love.
That is the moment in which you will integrate everything that you are your feelings and your thoughts, your heart and brain, your instinct and reason.
It is not an easy way but certainly the only one that I’m convinced might lead to wisdom and inner development.
If you want to be a human being and stop suffering for nonsense, just accept your mistakes and the worst part of yourself.
Having passion can’t be rational, but natural.
Feeling completely happy for a minute, even after a long way of being hurt is worthy.
Is like starting walking under the rain without an umbrella. It rains, so we get wet.
Just accept and forgive yourself. Then you will be able to do it with the other ones.
Is nice to know that nothing is written in life. We make our way just hanging around.
No, we must follow nothing but our own feelings with the guidance from your reason and the emergency light from your intuition.
I wish it would be so easy to apply what I can hardly write.
Just the miracle of life.

"Hi ndstrss. By the way you have constructed your first question it appears to me that you have the idea that we shouldn't make many decisions by our feelings. Please don't feel anger for me if I correct your english on the first question. You just simply got the order of two words out of sync. Instead of "we must" follow our brains (which is not a question) you might use "must we" follow our brains (which makes the sentence a question). Now, it's no problem for me to tell you that following our hearts is also beneficial and additional evidence for making our "best" decisions.
We should, and usually do, use our brains to the upmost in solving the puzzels of living. In addition, consulting our heart (feelings) is an absolute necessity for all, possible best answers. It is this "unifying" effect that keeps us accurately on our path. It will be completely up to you which device you use first ... your brain, followed by feelings, or your feelings then your brain. I believe these sentences clearly illustrate the basis for your possible level-headedness.
Hope these few reasons accurately describe and solve most of your delimma.
Yours and best wishes!"

We do not follow our brains only...but wait, some call the enteric nervous system in our digestive system a "second brain" but then again we are often prompted to action by how our emotions and feelings at that moment... actually the thought crossed my mind that when I am hungry I get ... ooops gotta go...bladder alert

Thinking is over-rated. Sometimes our thoughts just go around in circles, leaving us more confused than ever. Sometimes there's just nothing to be done in some situations, and all we can do is wait for them to play out - like when the problem originates in some one else's life. Wouldn't it be nice sometimes, just to turn your brain off? I think this is why people do heavy drugs.

We don't follow our brains, we use them to think. If you're getting tired, perhaps it isn't from thinking but from lack of sleep.

If by brains you mean ratio, my answer is no. Our emotions, feelings, or "gut", as I like to call it, is ALWAYS right, we just need to learn to listen to it and to interprete what it says to us. Usually, my gut is more right than my ratio.

If you don't want to think so hard all the time then don't, we all have days when we need to take a break. Especially if it is causing you stress you don't need or want.
