We might become united again to go kick some terrorist butt, or some people might actually blame the US government and claim a conspiracy.

If the US was hit by an atomic bomb most likely we would all be dead and the ones of us that were still alive would be to busy reacting to the situation and trying to rescue lives and get some order again then to think of reacting to the act.. it is after that act that we would react too. If I can remember correctly when I was a child it was the USSR That was going to do away with us with some great bomb and that never came to pass. So what can we do about a hypothetical situation before it happens just live your life the best you can when the time comes for the world or life as you know it to end it just will no matter how much you do ... before hand..

It might be a very confused picture - difficult to find out exactly what happened. It is likely no government would claim responsibility which would be certain suicide even though they may have allowed or even condoned terrorists within their midst. I guess the terrorist leaders might claim responsibility and glory in devastation in America as they did with 9/11. It is likely I think that the US would demand, and I think get, full access in any country where the trail led, to pursuing the terrorists. I feel a nuclear response directed at cities would probably kill many more innocent people than the original incident and would be hard to justify. As for doing more before it happens - we don't know that it is going to happen, there is most certainly a lot of intelligence effort to ensuring that it does not. One of those things perhaps that action would cause problems that cannot be justified and one just has to be vigilant.

Well the dummycrats would blame Bush for being so mean to the the terrorist/ Next they would ask France to help. (Like they did with the recent Israeli and Hezbollah problem. Then they would wait for a poll to give them the next course of action. The Republicans would have to take out Iran and stop fooling with North Korea. I'm sure China's actions would follow tradition and back the terrorist. They could not cope with the loss of business by so many Wall Marts getting destroyed.

Sealing the borders isn't conceivable, and no one's going to telegraph their intentions. It takes a blend of solid intelligence, a particular element of paranoia, diplomatic ability, and disruption of terrorist networks. This very last is somewhat imprecise, even if it truly is the nice and cozy-fee ticket merchandise on the record. No united states is going to danger the retaliation, and terrorist networks are not placed in any particular position, prepared in any particular way, or said for his or her ease of id. An danger free-searching e mail from Brussels to Buenos Aires might want to be a coded message at the moment.

The phrase "sea of glass" comes to mind. Just how high does the temperature have to be to melt pure sand into glass? (Ordinarily, chemicals are added to sand to make it melt at a lower temperature).

hahah I love Mr Hendrick's answer...yes it probably would be a conspiracy theory, I really dont know of any country that would take on the US, despite the fear tactics used by the current administration.
