Which do you ask for if you go out for a meal? Personally, I would prefer that all restaurant owners choose to make their establishment NON-smoking, BUT I don't want it dictated by government.

So why don't restaurants CHOOSE to be NON-SMOKING so that governments can stay out of it?

non-smoking. Even in restaurants where non-smoking sections are available, the waitrons are working in the smoking section and are exposed to second-hand smoking, which is harmful to health as well. So it would be better all round for everyone to have only non-smoking restaurants. The smokers can always go and stand outside on the street and puff away.
