20 ft x 20 ft. equals 400 square feet, (floor area).
However, if you're trying to figure out the square footage to paint your walls...
4 walls x 20 ft. x height of the wall, (usually 8-9 ft. ceilings).
Let's assume an 8 ft. ceiling.
4 x 20 x 8 = 640 sq. feet.
And don't feel embarrassed to ask this type of question.
It's probably been years since you were in school.

To find out the square footage, you would multiply the lengh and width of the room. 20 times 20 is 400 square feet.

I remember it well. It was in 3rd grade. Late in the year. We had learned our single digit multiplication tables and were not ready to do some more advanced arithmetic.
You must be from a generation and school that focused on using the calculator and didn't realize the importance of math facts.
Or maybe you are not in the third grade as yet. If that's the case, please accept my apology.
20 x 20 = same as 2 x 2 x 100. Do you own a calculator? It would suffice here again if you absolutely refuse to learn the basics of arithmetic.

Alright. Lets think about this........ Huuumm
If its 20' long and 20' wide then it must contain 400 square feet of floor area.
Now if the room is 8' tall then it would contain 3,200 cubic feet.
Of coarse that would equal 5,529,600 cubic inches.
Think of them as fat ice cubes.
Thousands and thousands of them.
Ok, so what else would you like to know......
Oh wait; Just in case your thinking of carpeting your room, you'll need 44.44 square yards of carpet.
If you want to paper your walls you'll want 640 square foot, or 213.33 square yards of wall paper.
There.
That should appease your curiosity.
Good day!
