Whenever she turns on her computer, the monitor shows Windows XP like its loading, then about 15 - 20 seconds later, it just shuts off. The keyboard lights all stay on, but there is no display...Reckon its the monitor?

Could be the monitor, but if it is fine until Windows boots...I would say it's a problem with Windows.

Buy a new monitor. It's worn out, or it needs a new tube. Just replace it with a new monitor. Then take the wiring, ect out of the old one and turn it into a picture frame.

It feels like (to me) that her computing gadget is booting up wonderful, and then even as it receives to abode windows, abode windows might want to be utilising a exhibit screen determination that the exhibit screen won't be able to help, so the exhibit screen shuts down... i might want to attempt to flow into abode windows in secure Mode (press F8 and shop hitting it even as the computing gadget boots up till it gives you a touch menu, and decide secure MODE there). Then once you're in secure mode, try to be able of regulate the exhibit to at least something else to attempt it out. also, if secure mode lots, because it lots without more suitable resolutions, its only yet another indication that it became concerning the determination she had set.

Right click the mouse, go to properties, then screensaver..then you can put in how many minutes you want your monitor to go to sleep!!! That's all I can think of that might be happening. Your monitor is prob in default as to when it cuts off.
