I am not for sure but this is what I think. I am only 14 years old and I have not had a job yet in my life but this is what I think that you should do. You should not tell your boss becuase if he knows that you are going for a job interview that he knows or thinks that you are going to leave that Job that he might fire you right then and there and then if you do not get the job then you would not have a job anymore. That is what I think but I am not sure becuase I have not had a job in my life beucase I am only 14 years old.

If you are looking for a better job, I would say no it is not a bad idea. Talk to your boss and let them know they might be receiving a call. It is better than them getting caught off guard with a reference check. You will probably be surprised at their reaction. If you have a bad relationship with your boss or they are a jerk, then don't tell them and just give a notice when you get another job offer.

Usually, yes. Don't tell them this unless you're actually worth something to the company, and you might be offered a raise to stay. Even then, it's best not to say your going for a job interview-- tell them when you already have the new job. So no, don't tell your boss that.

It depends on the relationship you have with your current boss and the type of job or business you are in. He or she may encourage you to better yourself and support you all the way. I have had employers in the past that I knew did not care about my best interests so I kept my job seeking to myself and took the day off to take care of personal business if there was an interview. I have also worked for wonderful people who I was able to share possibilities of bettering myself to and they let me know they did not want to lose me but knew I should move up to bigger and better things.
Good luck.

yes it's horrible to let your boss know you're going to a job interview. no boss wants to hear that you're looking for another job. why don't you go for an interview and if you get the job you wants quite this one.

Yes it is ... but if your interviewer calls your boss for a reference call that will hurt you more than you not telling him.
If you are confident that you are going to get a job somewhere else then tell him that your looking ... that is ONLY if u have listed him as a reference ... if not there is NO reason to tell him that you are looking

Of course it is, unless you are 100% you are getting the new job and will be leaving soon. If so, telling your boss will help him/her think about your replacement. If you want to be nice to your boss.
Just take a sick day.

Yeah. You don't want to give your boss a reason to fire you because you might not get the other job.
