The cramps could be the uterus bedding in/growing.
It's extremely common to have cramps during pregnancy (and this is not always a sign that there is something wrong - unless they are severe and continuous).
It could also indicate an infection though - I would definitely go to the doctors.

cramps in early pregnancy are normal. She should go to the doctor to get a blood hcg test to find out how many weeks she is. Hip and lower back pain is also normal in early pregnancy as when the HCG hormone is rising, your joints in your hips start changing also. If the pain becomes severe or only on the left or right side, then go imediatly to the dr as this could be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy.(baby implants in the fallopian tube instead of the uterus)

My niece has had two ectopic pregnancies which she experienced abdominal pains and cramps. She has lost one of her Fallopian tubes because of it. I'm not saying that's what she has - I had some light cramping early on with my pregnancy, but it's best to get checked out by a doctor in case it is. Ectopic pregnancies are very serious - it can cause the fallopian tube to burst. Avoiding the problem doesn't make it go away. If she's uninsured or a teen, have her go to planned parenthood or to a hospital to get checked out!!

I recently found out I may be pregnant with my fourth baby and have had alot of cramping, still have some on occasion. I also had alot of cramping during pregnancy with my now 8 month old baby girl. Your friend probably should talk to a Dr. to make sure everything is ok though, but yes, cramping can just be one of those things I guess. Best of luck to her!!

It depends on the kind of cramps. If they are very light cramps it could just be the muscles and tendons stretching. If she is having any bleeding or they are severe cramps she should see a doctor. She could also call her doctor and ask them over the phone.

yes millions of women have experienced pregnancy. If she has recently been with a guy then the mystery is solved. She then needs to go to her parents no matter how hard that may be and talk about what she needs to do unless I am misunderstanding and she is already of age.

When you are pregnant( especially the early stages) you experience so many changes, the only person that can help her is a doctor, if she doesnt have one she might want to go to the hospital and get checked out.
When your pregnant it is always good to have regular check ups with a doctor, you have to think about your unborn child

cramps are normal in the first trimenster of pregnancy, but depending on the type, and if there is bleeding involved it can be bad. During pregnancy you feel cramps, pains, sore muscles, headaches..nausia..you name it. My first cople of months were miserable. I would how ever drag her to a doc. she needs a check up.
