Any failures by the UN are not the direct fault of the UN, it is the fault of the member nations. The UN is not given the power to do what it is asked to do. It has no armed forces other than those the member nations donate. It has no legal authority or jurisdiction anywhere its not given it.

This problem is largely due to the original charter, which was drawn up by countries that didn't want to give up their right to sovereignty to a coalition. Which I understand, but it is a major limitation. You cannot expect an organization, with limited power, to solve the world's problems on its own. Xenophobic nations like the US need to open up to diplomacy and work with other peoples; not just fight for its own agenda, screw anyone that disagrees.
