Ive just got a apple G4 (the small one) but none of my monitors have the same fittings. do you know which ones are compatible?

It probably has a DVI output for the monitor. Just get a DVI to VGA adapter and you can use pretty much any monitor.

Mac mini?
You should have gotten an adaptor with it.. If not you need to ask for a VDA-VGA converter.
Apple will have them and so will decent computer shops, try online all my local shops looked at me like I had two heads when I asked

By small one, do you mean a Powerbook?

You need an adapter to make that port useful.

i dont know what a g4 is but most monters work its all about what vidio card you have but for the most i hope it do !
