Juice in a bottle will no more harm his teeth than in a cup!! It's when babies go to bed with a bottle of anything and the liquid pools in their mouth when they fall asleep that causes problems.

If your child is holding his own bottle, you can start slowly with a sippy cup. Some babies never accept a bottle. They go from breastfeeding straight to a cup because they don't like the unnatural nipple on a bottle.

I think you should start at 6months, because he should be able to hold and support a sippy cup, this will also help you out when its time for him to whine from the bottle. I have 2 kids and I started the sippy cup at around 5 and 6 months, it made it easier for them to switch from bottle to cup

You can start now. They have sippy cups that have soft tops and that seemed to be easier for my son to learn from. I believe they are Gerber brand and they have the spill proof stoppers with them. Also please remember to watch him while he is learning because sometimes they can start to drink too much too fast and choke.

My son has been using a sippy cup since about 6 months and he is doing great! Good luck!

one thing i learned with my baby is every baby is different. if your baby can hold his/her own bottle and can take a sippy i would give it to them. if you have great concern for it you can always ask the pedi. they'll give you the run of the mill answer but the can give you the concerns and you can base you own answer off that. i starting feeding my baby stage 2 foods at like 8-9 mnths and she had a sippy way before her 1st b-day. but again every baby is different in all areas you hae to figure out whats best. all part of being mommy.

You can try a sippy cup at mealtimes. Choose one with a soft spout (Avent) and use a small amout. I would suggest milk first since he is less likely to get choked on that. Good luck!

You can start introduing the sippy now, depends on the kid. Some loves it, some is resistent to change. Doesn't hurt to try.
