generally speaking, the more you buy, in bulk, the better price you get.

You can probably check http://www.pricewatch.com for the best prices.

You'll find that DVD+/- R will be cheaper than +/-RW. This is because the R's can only be used once. After you write to it and close it, it's done.
RW's can be erased and rewritten.

I check the Sunday ads for Best Buy, Office Max, Office Depot, and Circuit City. I usually find 50 DVD-Rs for $15.00. I buy only Verbatim. Or TDK if I'm really in a bind. Verbatim is the best IMHO.
BTW since you didn't spec. the country you are in, I assumed USA.

Walmart has magnavox ones for $99
got one and it works great.
use maxell brand blank DVDs.
other cheaper brands have lots of bad DVDs that wont record.

I don't know I get mine in packs of 50 at walmart or office max. Both places charge about $23.00

if they come by your town, usually there is a travelling "circus" of tech retailers that have comptuer expo marts and things like that. usually have them at your local armory or convention center if you have one near you. otherwise, try tigerdirect.com or newegg.com
