I'm on the verge of buying a legacy, however, I'm nervous about being down low to the ground. I'm have jeep cherokee...so I'm used to the height (which make me feel safer). I know Subarus are safe, but has anyone witnessed or lived through an accident with a Subaru?

I know the forester and tribeca are SUV's and are higher, however, I think those are more like family cars...don't u think? I'm 22 and single.

Subaru is the SAFEST car on the road. My legacy wagon was hit in the front and no one was injured. There where 3 adults and a child in the car. I have owned 4 subarus and absolutely love them. Excellent in the winter, Excellent in the summer, good on gas, Very reliable if you do the regular maintenance. If buying used, make sure it has all service records. Some subaru owners think they dont need to perform regular maintenance and you will end up with a car needing a lot of work right away. But if well maintained the car will last over 300k miles easy.

Ive seen some pretty badly crashed leagacys get towed in and the people have been pretty much unhurt. Subaru has the highest ratings in the crash test results. That is why my wife drives the Legacy outback sedan.Looks cool like the sedan, but sits higher like the outback.

Legacy's are safer, low center gravity, plus the traction of all wheel drive, and more safety if you get the side impact airbags
