....keeping in mind other guests will see you on the elevators and in the halls as you're making your way to the pool....

Some cover-ups are sheer and/or are skimpy. Thanks to those who fully understood what I was asking.....

I'm not "insecure" in any way, shape or form. I just don't want to give some 80 y/o guy at the hotel a heart attack as I'm making my way down to the pool.... (wink wink) :-D

Cute jersey sundresses (strapless, halter, or regular) go easily over a wet or dry bathing suit and make you look like appropriately dressed for the elevator and lobby, and they're way cuter than an oversized shirt. Target still has some on the racks that look fresh (instead of looking cheap) -- I saw some smocked styles and also sleeveless "bubble" styles with elastic at the top and then around the waist but forgiving everywhere else.

I like wearing this kind of a dress because it's more like my regular style than other cover-up alternatives and I can wear it for a casual lunch or shopping with regular undergarments. A cute shirtdress serves the same purpose.

However, in the "other alternatives" category, you might consider a long tunic with embroidery or beading. I saw a lot of them at Marshall's (as you can see, I'm generally a bargain shopper) so you can probably also find them at department stores. They can look VERY chic on almost any age but they're only good as coverups, not double-duty as regular casual dresses.

Land's End has a jersey swimsuit coverup for about $16 that's practical and looks like a dress but it's a little more like a long tennis dress than I like.

In Mexico, there's a whole cottage industry selling strapless beach coverups on the beach. They're bright cotton with embroidery, and smocking around the chest to keep them on. They're touristy (everyone knows you bought it there) but cute and practical and affordable and, to me, a reasonable souvenir.

Hope this helped...Have a great trip!!!

If you go to a store like Target you should be able to find really light see through pants or a long skirt to go over a bathing suit. Otherwise just put on a shirt and shorts and wear a towel back to the room.

A sarong, it's big enough where you can tie it up to be like a halter dress. I purchased one from the GAP a year ago, but Victoria's Secret Catalog is selling swimsuits they should have something.

I recommend getting one of those terri cloth(the stuff washcloths are made of) halter dress cover ups. They are cute, but still cover you up until you get to the pool. Thats what I really want to get.

just bring a towel, if you take the towel off, chances are people wont take it away or steal it. on the other hand if you bring a nice cover-up..you`ll probably have to watch it while you ar ein the pool! you dont want it all messed up and the towel saves you money which you can spend on lets say another swim suit!!!

I vote for sarong as well. You can tie it up in a bunch of different ways so it looks like a halter, skirt or whatever.

Wear a cute skirt and tank top that match your swimsuit print or color. It is easy and comfortable to wear and completely appropriate.

Wear your regular bikini top and a miniskirt to cover up the bottoms and bring a towel if you feel insecure.
