Which is more important to you and why?

For example, is being more 'safe' worth carrying an ID card and being subjected to random searches?

I for one would hope that never happens, although I have no objection to a national ID card, that could not be counterfeited or reproduced. The random searches are another matter all together, that I would not endorse unless in a time of ultimate disaster or war on our shores. But if I were in the criminal element,I guess I would expect that as part of the risk I take.If you are caught doing something wrong or are with others that are doing wrong then there is no difference in you or in the criminal.
So you get what you deserve ....loss of rights.
I for one don't want to lose the freedoms given to me as a US citizen, but I would do what is best to protect all Americans, but Id sure have to have more than a politicians word that we were in that much danger.

You asked for it...this hoopla about the illegals generated a cause for an ID, perhaps a family registry, finger prints, DNA tags, etc. Bush used 9-11 as a means to stem some freedoms and very few protested because people are not interested in what the government is doing or the motives. Have you sent an email to your congressmen about it? Your thoughts! They will walk over you. Security is non-existent...if 11,000,000 illegals can enter the country...where is the security? Don't you think that terrorists can do the same? If illegal drugs flow across the border by the tons, why can't bombs?

Freedom. It's the foremost thing that's necessary in a democracy -- without it, you might as will bid good-bye to our democracy and say hello to a police state.

FREEDOM.

He who would trade an ounce of freedom for an ounce of safety does not deserve freedom.
