Muslims are blamed for two reasons,
1. Muslims have been behind 98% of terrorist attacks worldwide since 1996 at least.
2. The basic message that comes from the koran (Yes, I have read it) is that if the infidel cannot be converted they must be killed, allah will reward the killer of an infidel with eternal glory. OK so thats not verbatim but it's the basic gist of it.

Another reason is, because of all of this, you aren't trusted, every month somewhere in the world, a Muslim has blown themselves up, or created some atrosity somewhere in the name of Allah, when an attack happens in Britain, take 7/7 for example, the 4 Muslims who carried out the unforgivable attacks on London were reported to be normal everyday people with a non fanatical following of Islam, and then wallop, they do that. How many other supposedly normal peaceful muslims are there still out there ready to do this again? The answer is who knows? The only people that know are other Muslims, how many other mosques are there like Finsbury Park that preach hatred against the west while sitting in a western country being funded by western money? I'm afraid history goes before Islam. You may mention the IRA doing similar things, but that was something else entirely, to truly understand that you need to be Irish or Scottish (As I'am), there is or was an irrational hatred between catholics and protestants that was borne out of stupidity and ignorance, and a extreme dislike by some loyalists that Northern Ireland is ruled by Britain which is why they went after Margaret Thatcher in 1984. You also mention other religions such as Hindu, Seekh and Judaism, why are these religions never attacked? The reason for this is simply, except jews, no-one has ever caused destruction or mass murdered in the name of Hinduism or Seekh or indeed Shintoism (Jap religion). The Jews have caused problems in Palestine and thereabouts but it's just there, they haven't caused major worldwide problems like muslims have. I think if muslims living in Britain want to gain our respect, you have to prove to us that the majority of muslims are the peace loving individuals you claim to be, you have to clearly show that you abjectly condemn the actions of the terrorists, by protest march if necessary. Also the fact that when anyone dares to have even the smallest joke about islam, its out with the placards and issuing fatwa's to behead the infidel who was so bold as to insult Allah in such a way. Have a look, how many times has the pope been sent up? Do you see scores of angry christians lining the streets wanting to disembowel the author? Of course not! I know this is a lengthy answer, but this question has to be definitively answered and not by a couple of incoherent lines, and I hope you take this as an insight of the inner workings of a British christian who has major reservations about what I regard as a dubious religion and not the rantings of a racist bigot.

I would add if you do see this as bigoted racism then, please open your mind, what you think isn't the be all and end all!

I speak for myself personally, but there's this quiz, it asks questions like...

1) The WTC was blown up by:
a) Jimmah Carter
b) The Easter Bunny
c) Shamu
d) Male Muslim extremists between the ages of 17 and 45.

Lot's of the same kind of questions and the answer is always D.

That and frankly the silence from the Muslim community when fellow Muslims blow themselves, their families and everyone else up. When Muslims riot over some freakin' cartoons, or when Muslims burn down embassies because their feewings were hurt.

When we see Muslim leaders who make women dress as they do, honor killings are accepted and 14 year old boys are hung for being gay, well, you'll find people like myself have very little tolerance for that.

Their utter silence is reprehensible. As a Muslim yourself, why don't you start a new generation one who honestly hates these atrocities and fights back VERBALLY. Talk to your Mullahs and Imans and leaders, tell them you want to be heard, decrying events like 9/11. Rather than partying in the streets throwing candy in the air,as I saw in Palestine that day.

First of all, I have no problem with people from any religion. I myslef am not Muslim but I do kinda wonder the same question.

I think that the problem is that most terrorists come from Muslim countries, so us stereotyping Americans think that if you have a turban on your head, your a bad person or something like that...

Of course, its not true

Most ppl dont think that all muslims are terrorists

Just the crazy ones who post messages on Yahoo Answers, because it's just another way to be heard

It is a shame though... : /

People look for simple answers, and you can't get simpler than racial or religious prejudice.

Unfortunately most people in the UK seem to believe the garbage printed by the gutter press. It doesn't sell newspapers to report that senior muslim scholars have condemned terrorism and declared al Qaeda supporters to be apostate.

Not everybody blames every muslim for the acts of terrorism but obviously some people do this is down to media bias & ignorance & lack of knowledge about muslims & Islam in general.

I will tell you what the problem is.

Religious Muslim Leaders are very powerful. Has ONE of them come out and said anything bad about these Terrorists? NONE.

If you Muslims Do not want condemnation from the rest of the world PLEASE STAND UP and make these religious leaders declare Fatwa on these Terrorists.

They declared a Fatwa on Salman Rushdie for writing a BOOK, and they do not declare FATWA on these terrorists, why? Does this mean that they are also part of these groups, this is the answer to your question and that is why every Muslim is being thought of as a terrorist.

It is ignorance, but the recent terrorists plots that are said to have been discovered are leading people to distrust. These people probably went to school with people like us and we never noticed it's like a few pirarnas in a tank of goldfish and it is sad because most muslims are lovely honest people that value life above all else. I feel really sad that there are nice people like you that may suffer. Hold your head up high and don't let the evil people bring down the honest.

I don't think that every Muslim is a terrorist, but I do think there's more of a likelihood that a Muslim would be a terrorist than say a Buddhist.

Just look at the religion of most of the terrorists and you'll see why I believe this.

I think it's because there are a disproportionate number of ill informed right wing conservative US Republicans on this site. Many live in insular communities, listen to radio and tv programs which spew hate messages and reinforce ignorance and stereotypes. They are not the majority of Americans, but more are becoming this way since the government seems to be promoting some of this feeling through the media it controls, and the churches it influences directly and indirectly.

Because people are too ignorant to distinguish Muslims from extremists.

Do people blame all Christians for blowing up Abortion Clinics? I know I dont, some of us can tell the difference.
