I'm moving to Fairbanks, AK from California. I drive a convertible Beetle which I LOVE. I know that the roads are kept pretty clear in the winter but am I insane to think I can bring this car? It would be so much fun during the sunny days! HELP!

It is not insane, but you would have to make it a summer car only. i would not recommend driving the AL CAN hwy with it. Check out the ferry at www.dot.state.ak.us/amhs/

There are barges you could put it on, but I have never done it.

do it; we need more v-dub love here :-D

Just make sure you brush it off regularly during the winter so your rag top doesn't get damaged... other than that there's no reason not to! Alaska has beautiful summers and I know I'd love to be able to drive around during the summer with the top down and take in all the gorgeous scenery!

why not? just drive it in the summer, buy an old truck to beat around in, good luck with the move!
