I was going to answer this question with something found on line so that you could read it for yourself and associate how the hormones and behaviors go hand-in-hand but all I could find was mostly PMS and menopausal articles... or else lab rat studies and just plain woman/man bashing so from the heart and from experience I can tell you how it's been with me.
I had night sweats, mood swings (and I mean seconds between one mood and the other), too much sex drive, not enough sex drive, crying spells that would last minutes or days, paranoid periods such as "thinking" everyone was against me, times when I thought I was coming down with some fatal illness simply because I read articles on certain symptoms... The list is really endless. Depression is in there with it too. Everything "normal" can go from one extreme to the other.
My cure came when I went through a complete hysterectomy last year. Life became clearer and I am much happier and a heck of a lot easier to live with now.
I can only wish you good luck and tell you to talk with your doctor.
God bless you and be with you (and everyone around you).

PMS and Menopause, both are hormonal and in some women hard to differentiate.
PMS, you get grouchy, nothing pleases you, you crave chocolate or salt, you're either loving the idea of sex or hating it . For ten days you hate the world and the world hates you.
Menopause, you're cranky, imbeciles come in many forms and you want to eliminate them all , personally, you cry at animal and baby commercials, you have hot flashes and night sweats , sometimes at the same time. Sometimes you're so cold you need a heavy sweater, then the hot flashes hit and you'd like to run around nude.
Things itch in various places. Your heart races at nothing , you get up in the morning and it takes you an hour to get going. Sally Field ,despite having osteoporosis is your role model, you start to look and act like your mother. Your body goes to hell in a hand basket and you develop, if you are like most baby boomers, all the diseases your parents had and you thought you'd never get.
You become either more reflective, wise and spiritual or you think everyone under forty is nuts.
Enough behaviours for you.

Behaviors that are controlled by hormones would be like a mother protecting a child, a man fixing something, a female animal in heat, a male animal being aggressive or competitive, a teenager thinking about sex, an elderly person being extra careful.....

Over-anything.
Hormones don't change the way you are.
ONLY THE INTENSITY AT WHICH THEY ARE.
;)
Meaning, while everyone can be happy or sad or such, when you have a surge of hormones you're not just happy YOUR HAPPY and you're not just sad... YOUR SAD.
You get the idea. It just increases normal actions to overstimulate the brain.
