I'm not Preisdent Bush, I don't have the resources or information he has, nor do I have the responsibilities and concerns.
But I know if I were running Israel I would have told Syria and Iran (assuming I could back it up) on the first day of the conflict with Hezbollah that for each missile that fell in Israel I'd drop a bomb in one of their cities. The problem in today's world is nobody is going after the root causes of the problems - the instigators. To be sure there would be problems if we took out the leaders of North Korea, Iran and Syria and for good measure perhaps Saudi Arabia as well. But the thing is you reach a point where you have to do SOMETHING. That is what caused Bush to go into Iraq, something Clinton should have done years ago. Sure it's a mess and it's not going to be easy or cheap. But it had to be done. If you let a toothache go unresolved you just end up with an abcess that might kill you if you don't get help in time.

I would send more troops to Iraq and adopt a containment policy for Iran like we did successfully with the Soviet Union. I would send more Patriot Missles to Israel. I would quintuple the CIA budget for clandestine operations to destabilize the Iranian mullahs. I would prosecute the New York Times for treason. I would close the Departments of Education and Energy and transfer the funds to Katrina relief. I would fire half the State Department. I would seal the border with Mexico. I would select Condy Rice as my Vice President. I would seek congressional approval to run for a third term.
That's what I would do on my first day as President.
