I mean c'mon, how well are we preparing our kids for the real world by telling them essentially there are no losers? My neice is in a league where parents cannot CHEER for the kids because the kids who aren't doing as well will feel bad!!! Am I crazy to think this is unrealistic and ridiculous? This is taking PC too far!!!

No you are not crazy. It is ridiculous. My boys are not going to grow up to be mamsy pamsy "softies" I will teach them - I have one very competetive and one not so competetive but sports teach many lessons and one is sometimes you win sometimes you lose - just like real life. I guess when the people who made these stupid rules still have their kids living at home when they are 40 will think maybe they should have let them keep score.

I think the cheering thing is ridiculous. I totally agree with you on that one! Positive reinforcement allows for a better experience.

And for the most part you right on the keeping score thing. But I think you need to look at what age your talking about. Some of these young kids don't entirely understand competition. They just want to go out and have fun. If we let them do that for a few years, they will learn to love the sport and get more involved in the rules and winning. Your right, but I think it is a gradual process.

no you are not i can understand when the kids are really little like 5 or somthing but not being able to cheer your kid on that is mentally ill, the other parents can cheer there loser kids on if they want to, and the other kids might feel bad that they aren't being rewareded for there efforts. and the score should be kept because then the kids should get like an extra little lolli pop in the end or somthing.

Yes you are right.

I guess when they are adults they will have years of suffering when they realize only their parents give a sh*t weather or not they stay up crying.
