It may be because Iowa is SOOO boring, that even the Indians couldn't find anything to do there. LOL.

Because there haven't been ancient humans there for nearly as long. The amount of time there have been humans in Iowa when compared to Kenya (one of the major sources of humans fossils) is incredibly tiny.

Are you referring to fossils? Fossilization need a very specific set of circumstances in order to occur. A good book that explains this phenomenon as well as a number of other interesting items out our planet is A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson.
