I have been in and around music all my life in one way and another, from my childhood growing up in a pub listening to live cornish folk music to traveling with my uncle as a teenager controlling the light show at montego bay 's reggae sunsplash festvals in the late 70's and have been (as all people think) on the cutting edge of the most up to date musical influnces and feel that i have never lost touch with music in either present or past , but now feel that i need to actually play an instrument..... to give people the pleasure of enjoyment .... but am i to old to actually be able to learn the ability of mastering the art of playing an instrument to a chilled out audience. ?

Technically, you can do anything you want. Know this though, guitar playing takes alot of stamina in your hands, if age has affected the use of your hands, it may be harder for you, but still possible. Same goes for drums, alot of physical energy used to play them. Bass guitar is really rough on the fingers. I just thought someone should get you aware that instruments take some physical ability to play. Not a whole lot, but some none the less. I hope you go for it though, your never too old, just sometimes too stubborn to do what you wish. Good luck with it!

One step at a time. First choose your instrument, second learn to play it (well), and no you're never too old to learn an instrument. Worry about an audience once you have dealt with the first 2 things.

The fact that you have had this amount of music throughout your life I feel it would give you such an ear for the music that you could pick up playing techniques a lot easier and quicker than someone who hasn't.

Give it a go. What's the worse that can happen?

You're never too old to learn something new, but you shuold be sure you want to play the instrument for yourself as well. What I mean, is that you shouldn't just be playing to please others; you should play because you feel you'd like too. I don't know if that's important to you or not, but there's my sage advice.

Its never too late as long as you are still alive to do something new.
'its better to regret something that you have done than something that you havent'.

With determination anyone can start learning a craft when they please. But I also feel a bit of talent is needed.
