Not if it's an occasional flutter. It is morally wrong to get into debt, or have your family do without as a result of it though.

Morally wrong... bad question, really, because one person's morals are so different from another's.
Is it any less wrong, morally speaking, to talk on a cell phone while driving? In gambling, you risk a bet (could be pennies or hundreds of dollars). Driving without due care and attention puts your life, and the life of those around you, in danger. Yet plenty of people who believe gambling to be morally wrong would not think twice about driving on the phone.
If you're raised in an abusive environment, you grow up believing that violence and hatred are the norm. That's why education is so vital to a person's prospects. With good education, you have a chance to learn enough about the world to put your past into context and make a difference in your own life.
So, returning to the question... If you are raised in a home where people are regular churchgoers, who preach fire and brimstone about everything from pre-marital sex to gambling, then your view of it will vastly differ from mine. I was raised in a house of amateur alcoholics, heavy smokers and the occasional gambler. I am a social drinker, never touched cigarettes, but make my living playing online poker and advising others. I'm so passionate about it, I themed it as a religion: The Church of Texas Holdem.
That is the difference education makes. Had I grown up in a similar house but without the emphasis on learning and self-discovery, I might have become the kind of person you wouldn't want to socialise with. Perhaps, if any of you met me, you might like me -- whatever your views on my website are.
Complex issue, for sure. Addiction is another question entirely and I think out of the scope of a question about gambling morals. We all know alcoholics, but does their existence make drinking morally wrong?

No, I don't think gambling is morally wrong, it cost people more than money a lot of the time, but its their life and their choice, maybe a lot of people who do the lottery each week would be the first to criticise gambling/gamblers but aren't they doing the same!

No, I don't believe it's morally wrong. For the most part, gambling is a self-imposed tax on people who didn't take statistics. For an unlucky few, it's a serious addiction.

No gambling is not morally wrong. Why should it be? However, I do believe that it must be regulated and help needs to be available fro addicts as well as things to stop people getting addicted in the first place

If you have money to throw away at the casinos, you could just as well be donating it to a charity or save it and buy yourself a nice stereo, whatever. The gambling establishments wouldn't be in business if they weren't emptying out peoples pockets on a regular basis. It's much like smoking, an addiction, a weakness that unscroupulous people exploit.

I think it is not morally wrong as long as it is done in moderation. Now if your life revolves around gambling, then maybe it is.

Nope. Every penny you lose goes to a good cause. The bookies fags, his wife, his mistress his roller. And then Tony Blah gets his share. So no. Lets all keep on gambling for a good cause.
The lottery money is a farce. Give straight to the charity and wait for your reward by the circular route, ie. what goes around comes around. Love to all.
