I haven't seen the American version yet. But I have seen the original Kairo(Pulse) and I can tell you the original generates a lot of tension. What I love about the Japanese horror they don't depend on blood and gore for thrills. But I reccommend u see the orignal. The original has a lot of suspense. It's out on Maganolia dvd. I strongly reccommend it.
