In windows there is no real way to uninstall InternetExplorer (without some extreme hackery). If you "uninstall" it, all that happens is the icons are removed from your desktop and (i think) start menu, but the program is still there.

For issues with video clips, I would make sure you have the latest version of Flash installed (as many videos, such as YouTube, are in Flash format nowadays), as well as programs suitable for the type of file you are receiving. Generally, as long as you have Quicktime, Windows Media Player, and RealPlayer, you can view most video files. VLC is also a very versatile player.

If it is indeed YouTube videos (or Google Video, Yahoo Video, etc.) then I would suspect that your email-acquaintance is sending you a link to the website where the video is at, and therefore you need to go to the website to view them.

This seems like two seperate issues to me. Which do you have a problem with, IE or WMP? IE will not let you uninstall it from any Windows OS later than 98, but you can upgrade it. WMP, I think you can uninstall and definately reinstall after downloading it from Microsoft.

IE is an integral part of windows. You can fix it, but not uninstall it. You can even download IE 7 at the Microsoft web site.

Just go to add/remove programs in Control Panel. Then add/remove windows components. There are checkboxes for IE.
I don't think you need the Windows CD for it. I think XP stores all the necessary information.
