I looked up some tabs on the internet that I want to learn, and it says I have to tune my guitar to this:

Tuning:
D
D (Tune it up to D)
D (Tune this one down)
D
D (Tune this one down also)
B (Tune This One Down too. it will be a little loose but that's how it is)

Now the way I understand it is that where "B" is at, should be the thickest string(String 6). But the usual toning is "EADGBE" according to my tuner, then how do I possibly get string 6 to B?? My guess is I'm reading/doing it wrong.Help please!

This was the highest rated tab of its song at "Ultimate-guitar.com". I copied and pasted it here- Also, does "tune it down" mean to tune it lower or higher? Because the way I'm doing it most of my strings are loose. Thanks for all the help!

By the way, I'm using an "Automatic tuner" on my computer using a microphone- if that should make a difference.

You're reading it right. They are asking you to tune down to a baritone tuning. B is the note of the 5th (thickest) string on a 5-string bass so it will be a very heavy sound.

This is a hard tuning and you will probably have to adjust the neck/truss rod to compensate for the lack of tension. This really isn't a tuning for beginners. If you have the luxury of having more than one guitar tune it down and leave it there. Or, if you can afford another, go out and buy a baritone guitar then you won't have to tune as much. If this is just a song for fun that you want to try, it might be better to skip it. ;-)

I have never seen a song in this tuning - it's NOT drop 'D', as some people are suggesting. But I guess it's possible. If you can, try and get your tab from more than one source (just Google the song title and add 'tab' at the end). I have seen some tabs that are way off before - but if you can find 2-3 tabs which consistently say use DDDDDB, then it's probably correct. It will sound pretty 'low.'

I beleive it's called "dropped D" tuning. Take your low "E" string, and tune it to "D", this lowers it a full step. The "B" is probably for a 5 string bass guitar.

You're not reading it wrong. You can tune your 6th string to B but you might have to adjust it to hold it in tune that low.

Wow - I don't think I've ever seen a "D-D-D-D-D-B" tuning.
I've done a drop-D (D-A-D-F#-A-F#).
Are you sure you read the TAB correctly?
Did you contact the person who submitted the TAB?
