Has anyone else heard of the new Blu-ray discs for movies?

I heard about them for the first time last night. What do you know about them?

it uses a blue light to read the data off the disc. It technology from sony that they introduce and is backed by a few companies right now. its mainly used for High Def proposes because it can hold more data on the disc than a normal dvd disc.

there is a big battle with toshiba's HD-DVD and sony's blu-ray, like VHS and Beta back in the 80s
